‘In My Experience’ is mainly a solo project, which came from writing some short poems, which I then translated into musical notes using an alphabet system borrowed from the composer and pianist Hugh Nankivell, transfiguring into a world of “interior landscapes” (George McKay).
The soundworld that emerged from this process features shifting melodies, hypnotic patterns and abstract beats. I have performed around the UK with the project, and I am beginning to extend the project to include Norwich-based guitarist Steve Appleton and also spoken word (more soon…).
I also have a workshop project connected to the solo setup, called ‘Closed Circuits’. This has included elements of circuit-bending, writing words and field recording. I have led workshops for Young Norfolk Arts Festival and Holt Youth Project exploring some of these elements.
